Powerhouse Factories

Over my fall break I was gifted the chance to hang out with the guys over at Powerhouse Factories for two days.  It was a very interesting and action packed two days up in Newport, Ky where their new digs are located.  Ben Nunery and Pat Jones (the masterminds behind Powerhouse Factories) produce some great work and needless to say, they both have very interesting jobs.  Powerhouse Factories is a place where gig posters and corporate America co-exist in harmony.  Cheers to Powerhouse Factories and the Enforcer!

Go ahead and check out their impressive body of work over at phfdesign.com.

Political Design 2008

Leading up to the November election I have noticed more and more good design and art on the campaign trail. It definitely is due to both parties trying to reach a younger audience. The Obama Camp in particular have had some great design coming out of their marketing efforts.

All politics aside, I would have to say that the Obama Camp has done a much better job with their distinguished brand image. In many ways the Obama brand is fresh and inviting and the colors, graphics and fonts really lend themselves to the theme of change and hope. I’m not saying that Obama is more able than McCain as president but Obama certainly has the leg up in the design category.

I have posted below a few of the commissioned print pieces that the Obama Camp asked designers Scott Hansen(of ISO50 fame) and Shepard Fairey to do. Just a few excellent examples of some of the great design floating around the campaign trails.
